UKSA opposes paper-free company reporting plan

In response to the Financial Reporting Council's plan to permit companies to cease distribution to shareholders of printed copies of their Annual Report, UKSA's Director of Administration, Eric Chalker, has voiced his objections in a Telegraph piece entitled Shareholders fight plan to scrap paper company reports.

In the article, Mr Chalker says: "What is the FRC doing trying to get companies to save the environment or save money? They are supposed to be helping improve company reporting."

As one UKSA member told us: "I would be interested to know the extra dividend you are negotiating for the abolition of these hard copy reports."

There is also a case to be made that the proposal to stop printed annual reports will not result in the environmental savings envisaged. See the attached file for the BPIF's letter to the Financial Reporting Council.
