Tools and resources

The following free Excel spreadsheets are currently available to be downloaded (contact us if you have any suggestions for more spreadsheets we should offer members or if you wish to contribute some):

UKSA Share Transactions and Dividends (click on to download). This spreadsheet enables you to record all share purchases and sales, and all dividends received. It can act as a simple "daybook" to ensure you have recorded all such transaction data, but may also be useful for doing later analysis or for passing the information to your accountant for tax calculations. There are two portfolios set up, for which purchases or sales, and dividends are recorded on separate sheets - you could of course add more. Usage of the spreadsheet should be fairly self-evident, but please call 0208 468 1017 if you need assistance.

UKSA Portfolio Value (click on to download). This spreadsheet enables you to compare the value of your portfolio against any index that you may care to select. It also presents the comparative performance in a graphical form for ease of review. You simply need to enter the total movement on the value of your portfolio (daily, weekly or monthly, as you find convenient, and the corresponding value of the comparator index you wish to use - for example, the FTSE All-share index. We recommend obtaining the latter from services such as InvestorEase (see elsewhere on this site for a special offer on that). Usage of the spreadsheet should be fairly self-evident, but please call 0208 468 1017 if you need assistance.

UKSA IRR Calculation (click on to download). This spreadsheet enables you to obtain the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) that you have obtained from an investment. It is a simple way to compare the cash flows over time with a comparable investment such as bank deposit. Read the following pdf document for more explanation and how to use it UKSA_IRR_Spreadsheet.
