Ian StroudIan Stroud is a former Merchant Marine Captain who lives in Norfolk. He retired after 42 years service and currently works as caretaker. He bought his shares just after the queues outside Northern Rock had subsided once the Government had guaranteed the savings of all those with deposits at the bank. He saw his holding of 1237 shares which were bought at a price of £2.80 as an investment and feels that the Government handled matters poorly. The actual management team at the bank had his support but in his mind the huge publicity at the time caused a lot of the instability in and around the company. Furthermore, the valuer is being asked to perform a ‘rip-off’ on behalf of the Government as Northern Rock is still a ‘going concern’ with every likelihood that it will soon be a viable company again. Ian is one of the plaintiffs in the application for a judicial review.
