Helen Gibbons MA, MCIL
Helen graduated from Cambridge University in 1981 with a degree in Dutch, French and German and went to work for Banque Nationale de Paris plc in the UK. The work included marketing bank services to UK subsidiaries of French listed companies, as well as setting up the bank’s services for high-net-worth individuals out of the Knightsbridge office.
At the end of the 1980s she took over the running of the family office equipment business at a time of major technological upheaval. She says she still has great respect for the role played by SMEs in the economy, particularly their capacity for innovation and flexibility.
Since the early 1990s Helen has operated a business translating financial documents from French, Dutch, German and Spanish into English. She has developed a specialism in European corporate governance and pension funds and now operates from Gibraltar to safeguard access to the EU market.
Helen invests predominantly in single equities on European bourses. In her free time she is an inveterate traveller in Europe and North America and, she says, a ‘passionate – and occasionally successful’ amateur cook with a love of all types of Mediterranean food.
