What are the benefits from becoming a member of UKSA? Apart from the
advantages of supporting the general aims and objectives of UKSA and
protecting your investments in
UK
companies, these are as follows:
-
You gain access to a
network of investors keen to discuss investments and share ideas. For many
this is one of the most important aspects. Learning from the experience of
others is one of the key advantages of membership.
-
UKSA organises company analyst-style meetings with directors and
senior managers of major PLCs which you can attend. This can put you on a
level footing with the professionals and from asking questions you can learn
a lot more than what is contained in their annual report.
-
You will receive, at least quarterly, copies of “The
Private Investor”, a
newsletter with articles contributed by members and others on a wide range
of investment issues (see the “Newsletter” page for more information on
that).
-
You will get a chance to talk to investment and corporate
governance experts at
regional and national events. See the “Events” page for more details of these
activities.
-
You get discounts on investment software, free spreadsheets, free company
reports and other services available only to members (available from the
"members-only" section of this web site).
-
You can present your views and that of other private shareholders
to Government, the City, Companies and many other bodies through working
parties and company Annual General Meetings. UKSA can give you advice on
how to speak at AGMs and question company directors, and may be able to assist when
contentious issues arise. UKSA is active in taking up issues where
companies’ boards are not acting in the interests of all shareholders, and
can provide a focus for shareholder action - see the “Companies” page for
examples of this.
-
Your membership subscription also helps to support this web site
which is a source of much useful information for investors and for financial media.
Membership costs £50 per annum (this covers up to two people
in the same household). Organisers of investment clubs should contact the
Membership Secretary for details of special rates for their members.
Please click on the following
link for an application form which you should print out and send to UKSA
