InvestFest 2008
Investfest - Thursday 15th to Saturday
17th May 2008 at Leeds Crowne Plaza
Investfest, UKSA’s
Annual Convention for 2008 will be held in Leeds with the help of
stockbrokers Redmayne-Bentley. Following two successful years in Banbury,
this year we are going to the Crowne Plaza in Leeds, which will allow us to
take a larger number of delegates and provide a wider choice of
accommodation.
InvestFest is a superb
event for keen investors. This year we will include a number of educational
workshops for you to choose. Among other topics, these will look at
important principles which may not be covered by financial journalists ,
discussions on how to see what is important in companies' annual reports and
questions with which to challenge company directors and managers.
Responding to your
positive comments about last year’s conference we are keeping the event
similar but enhancing the educational element and including more FTSE 100
and 350 companies in the presentations.
• A selection of
companies , large and small, will be giving workshop presentations, with
plenty of time allowed for discussion.
• Superb plenary
speakers; the challenges to the banking system will be explained by the head
of strategy at HSBC; we will be updated on regulatory issues by the deputy
head of the FSA ’s Financial Services Consumer Panel and on the world of
insurance by the Chief Executive of Chaucer Underwriting, and Deputy
Chairman of Lloyds.
• Presentations from
leading fund managers
• We will also be
looking at the Investment Trust sector and how to assess the total costs of
collective investments, as well as considering the implications of past
performance.
We are delighted to
have the support of Redmayne-Bentley for this event. This allows us to
combine UKSA ’s experience with previous conferences and the administrative
and educational skills of Redmayne-Bentley.
We can promise you a
thought-provoking and enjoyable event. Go to the tab on the right for a
brochure and booking form.

White, Feb 2008, UKSA Chairman

Quotations from attendees at previous
events are:
May I congratulate you
on the excellent of your convention in Banbury. Thanks to the very active
session we got to know both your organisation as it members. We learned a
lot...... Jean-Pierre Paelinck, Secretary General, European Shareholders,
Brussels
Thank you very much for all the time and trouble you took to organise this
weekends conference. From my point of view at least, it was a roaring success
and I hope that it will not be the last as I would like to attend any
similar events in the future...... Mark Pagliaro, Forest of Dean
I
just want to add to all the congratulations heaped upon you for the success
of Banbury......Martin Morton, Board Member
Just a word to let you know how much I enjoyed InvestFest. There was a real
buzz about the place. I know from conversations with Audrey Dixon-Bruce that
she enjoyed it, too. There were some thoroughly nice people there who helped
to make for a pleasant weekend......Tom Linton. Plymouth
Congratulations on a very interesting, informative, worthwhile, and
stimulating Conference. A very good mixture of company and
information workshops. The icing on the cake was certainly hearing Paul
Myners; and learning our individual investing has a good track record and
compares favourably with the professionals! .......June Liddiard, London
The programme and venue met our needs in all respects and from my previous
experience I know how much effort and thought needs to go into the
organisation of such an event. Thanks again........Ken Roberts, London
I
thought it was a wonderful event this past weekend. Good central location,
good choice of venue, superbly organised and well designed - especially in
the holding of simultaneous but repeat presentations. I even bought or
committed to buy shares in two of the presenting companies, and put a third
on a watch list until the price falls. I hope UKSA will be able to make this
an annual event........Richard Vessey, Dorset
I learnt much about
investment management and made some good contacts; I came away full of
ideas. The hotel was comfortable and looked after us well; their staff
shortages were not detrimental to our enjoyment. And we both made some good
friends. I do hope that it can be repeated on another
occasion..............Michael Clarkson Webb, London
Absolutely smashing conference, same from Ted........Catherine Moss,
Bristol
A very big thank you
for organising what I can only describe as a superb gathering. I am not the
only one who thinks so and several members said how good the event had been.
The enormous amount of time and effort devoted to the event dopes not bear
thinking about, but it was so worthwhile. There was no shortage of sessions
to attend. In fact, I was spoiled for choice and could have done with more
hours in the day! Again, many thanks for a superb and most enjoyable
gathering.......E W Hughes, Ringwood
The most tremendous
congratulations on the success of the conference. There was a real buzz
about the whole event, both in the sessions themselves and in the general
discussion during our 'leisure time'. I have never been to any conference
where all the speakers lived up to expectations and where the standard was
so high. I am looking forward to next year and will book shortly.......Hubert
Beaumont, Oxfordshire
