UKSA promotes the
education of its members, and the financial community at large, in a number
of ways. Apart from this web site, and our "Private Investor" Newsletter, which promote
good standards of corporate governance and keep members and others informed
about topical issues, many of our meetings including educational talks. These can be from industry experts, fund managers, company directors or from
our own members passing on what they have learned from many years of
investment activity. For example, see the pictures above and below
which show Tate & Lyle Chairman Sir David Lees speaking at a South East
Branch meeting in 2004 on "What Makes a Successful Board".
Go to the Events page
for more details of forthcoming national and regional meetings which contain
such sessions.
Of course the informal contacts with
other members at local meetings is also a great source of education, and if other
members do not know the answers to your questions, they may well be able to
point out where you may find them.
If you feel there would
be a general demand for a training session on a particular topic, then
please contact the executive committee (see the
Contact page).
An example of the kind
of educational material we provide members is the following article on how
to raise questions at AGMs: Questions at
AGMs - An Aide Memoire (a PDF document).
Other sources of
information are those available on other web sites (see the
Links page for some useful ones), or books covering
investment management and other financial topics. A recommended reading list
is provided on the following page: Reading List. |
